The title of this entry says almost everything, since that day we did the tour that everyone does when visit the Colca canyon. Perhaps with the small exception that we had already spent two nights there. At the indicated time, a van came to look for us at the hotel. Inside we met other travelers who were also going to enjoy the excursion that day.

The first stop was in the main square of Yanque, where there were some girls dancing to the sound of regional music, dressed in the typical costume of the area. It was a quick stop, about 10 minutes, enough to take the picture of rigor to the church and start again to visit the next town. Like Yanque, Maca It is a small town that a few years ago was totally devastated by an earthquake and was later rebuilt, especially its white and immaculate church.

The stop here was also very short, a couple of photos of rigor and in progress, direct to the cross of the condor. A while later we got there. Basically the condor cross is a lookout point crowned by a cross, from where you can see the point where the canyon has the greatest depth and, if you are lucky, some condor.

In the viewpoint there were many people, and groups did not stop arriving. We walked down the stairs to another part of the viewpoint that was bigger and further away from the cross, and there we stayed for a while contemplating the landscape. We had an hour and a half to enjoy the enclave, but as everyone wanted to take pictures in the viewpoint, in the end we decided to go to the cross area until the time to return. At our side we had a dozen street vendors and since we spent so much time sitting there, in the end we ended up buying a very nice and colorful tablecloth of alpaca wool.

In case you were wondering, too we saw the condor pass. We are not sure if we saw many or it was the same that flew over our heads continuously. It must be admitted: it is impressive to see the magnitude of the bird, although from above it seems only a speck of dust. Every time the animal flew over us quietly, with its wings extended, everyone took out the cameras and started shooting right and left, and then everyone checked who had it bigger (say the zoom), and failing who had hunted the best snapshot.

I realize that this entrance is taking a little air destroyer, but in case you haven't intuited it yet, The condor's cross disappointed me a lot. Let's see, don't get me wrong, because the views of the canyon are very spectacular, especially the slope of more than 1,250 meters. The immensity of the space that opens before the gaze makes your soul widen. However, if I had to do all that road from Puno or from Arequipa Just to stop there, I would have felt cheated. The effort, the money and the time that must be dedicated, in my opinion does not compensate. Something similar happened to me when we visited the hanging temple from Datong in China. Luckily, we liked the visit to the Colca Canyon because we passed the first day resting and in the second we did mountain activities like horse riding and hiking, but if it hadn't been for that, I would still be pulling my hair.
